I love wire

The past two days I’ve been elbow deep in wire, and loving it!
The most recent issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry had an article/project in it that really struck a chord with me. The basis of the article was an ingenius way to create free form wire bezels. Now, as some of you know, I’m a big collector of things. What kinds of things? Well, I can’t take a walk in nature without filling my pockets with little treasures. The beach turns in to a treasure hunt for me. It’s not limited to natural treasures. You can also find me picking up bits and pieces of rusted metal, slivers of wood, or shards of glass on my walks as well.
The idea of using these bits and pieces in my jewelr has always appealed to me, but I’ve tried to figure out how. Not every thing can be drilled, and I have yet to master the art of soldering. Honestly, I’ve been afraid of soldering. Me and heat just don’t get along, to be perfectly honest. So it goes without saying that the idea of being able to encase an object in wire was right up my alley. I hit the ground running.
This is the first finished piece I’ve created with one of these amazing bezels. The pendant is a handmade ceramic pendant from Red Crow Arts over at Etsy. It seemed perfect for this treatment! The pendant hangs from Labradorite roundels (a gift from the lovely Kae!) and Czech glass. The piece was created as a thank you to Kae for sending me some great beads!
Now I’m on a roll! I’ve made a couple more pendants, but I’ll have to wait till it’s not the wee hours of the morning to get some photos of them.
What has inspired you lately?
