Tuesday Night Mayhem

Tuesdays at my house have become a bit of a tradition. The lovely Ashley comes up from Salinas and we spend several hours mucking about with beads and talking about everything under the sun, it’s a blast and I really look forward to it each week.
Well, this week the stars aligned and a hole was visible in the fabric of the universe on Tuesday, Ashley AND Violet both made it to my place! Violet and I had spent a few hours of the day hunting around in the antique stores in downtown Gilroy for keys and various other bits and pieces that can be incorporated in to our jewelry creations. Once we arrived back to my plae around dinner time, Ashley arrived and the evening was rolling.
It’s great to be able to create with like minded ladies and share their company. We exchanged a lot of ideas and on a couple occasions I laughed so hard it hurt. The big excitement of the night came around 11pm or so when Violet was ready to bake a batch of some polymer goodies she had spent a couple of hours working on, tediously detailing them so they were perfect for the oven. She popped them in, and within several minutes my kitchen was filling with a terrible smell and smoke while her beautiful little creations had burst into flames inside!

Not the exact fire, but close! We were too busy taking care of things to get the camera, so I found another shot online from someone who suffered a similar fate, but with pita chips.
The fire was promptly handled by removing the toaster oven to the front porch and laughing while the clay burned. The best part of the while event, while we were extinguishing flames, the timer on the toaster went ‘DING!’ to which we replied, “THEY’RE READY!!!” then laughed a whole lot more.
Ahhhhhhh….what fun.
Things wound down around midnight or alittle after and I retired to bed. I wandered out to the bead room this morning and it felt a bit like returning to the scene of a previous night’s debauchery minus the scattered bottles of booze and random underpinnings hanging from the chandelier.
What a night!
