Shaman Stones

Over the past two weekend I’ve been lucky enough to attend a bead show along with a gem and mineral show. I manged to find some great deals and some amazing stones to create with. This necklace features some of them.
One of my finds was a beautiful strand of natural Iolite drops that are the biggest Iolite beads I’ve ever seen! On this piece I’ve featured one front and center, wrapped with pure copper. From the same vendor I picked up some beautiful Turquoise nuggets in a lovely mix of natural colors. They’re hanging on either side of the Iolite.
Then my brain started wandering and the phrase Shaman Stones popped in to my head. So, I spent a few hours digging in my books at my bead table and discovered that those two stones have been used by Native American Shamans for centuries. Then I found other Shamanic stones and created this necklace in that theme.
If you pop over to the flicker photo, there are notes on the image to show each stone and what it is.
I loved the style so much I created two more necklaces in the same style with different stones!
