Katherine Is Here – Steam Dream Rework

So, yesterday’s necklace has been reworked, and I’m happpy with it now. I felt it needed to be a bit more elaborate to pull in some of the Victorian feel, instead of just using the chain. So, here it is.
I built the necklace with Almandine Garnets, Gold Sheen Obsidian, Czech Glass, and brass filigree rounds. I finished it off with a darkened steel hook clasp that I made myself, with a chain to add a little bit of additional length.
I enjoyed making this one so much, I may have to do some more Stempunk themed pieces!
And now…Waiting For Katherine
Today, my dear friend and Sister, Jen, gave birth to Katherine Elizabeth Henry Ellis. It was a scheduled C section at 5:30 pm EST and here I am in Pacific Standard Time. So…I spent most of the day nervously waiting, and fidgeting with beads. I lit some candles, burned some sage, and created this piece. It’s the chain from the Steam Dream necklace I created yesterday. It features a button from Mamacita Beadworks and it was just too cool to take apart. A tassel of Almandine Garnets with some gunmetal chain and filigree seemed fitting. A fat Czech glass drop anchors the piece, and a darkened steel hook can clasp the necklace in several places, including the chain.
Katherine comes from amazing parents. Her mom is bold and intelligent with a sultry femininity that is unforgettable. Her daddy is strong and steadfast with shoulders that can carry the world and compassion that is endless. She’s a lucky girl…I can’t wait to meet her.
