Weekend Wrap Up

This past weekend was a mellow one. Saturday was lounge around the house day. Hubby and Kiddo had a guy game day, and they both needed it. I spent the day cleaning up my beading table, it had gotten to be quite the mess! I like to call it ‘pushing the reset button’ :)
Sunday was another great beach day. We piled in to the car and headed over to the Pajaro Dunes on the other side of Watsonville. We were surprised when we topped Mt. Madonna to see that there was no fog hugging the coastline, which is pretty common there. It was a glorious sunny day, about 72 degrees, slight breeze. Have i ever mentioned that October is the BEST beach weather in this part of California? Well, if not, I just did. How good was it? I ended up hip deep in the Pacific Ocean, that’s how good. In fact, it was so nice that Hubby was in the water as well! He and I spent the entire time trudging around in the waves and on the sand, enjoying the day.
Kiddo spent a good chunk of time digging a ‘moat’ for us, so we could sit behind it and not have to worry about the waves getting us wet. He picked a spot on the beach that was a bit of a rise, and dug a straight line of a ditch, parallel to the waves. Then, in front of that he built up a wall of sand, with holes in front of that. It worked. :) We were able to sit there and not once did we have to spring up and run from a wave! I was having too much fun to mess with my camera, so here’s a shot from the same beach, same time last year.
There’s something…spectacular about spending time in the ocean. When you think about it for a minute, and realize that the waves crashing around you are the spent energy of waves that started half a world away, it makes you see how small we are in the grand scheme of things. Seeing the curve of the Earth on the horizon as the sun dips below is pure magic for me each and every time I see it. I could be there every day and never tire of it. Who could? It’s so inspiring to be there and be a part of it, just for a small piece of time.
Today was spent playing with some beads and chain. The focal is from Green Girl Studios, and on the back it reads Enlightenment. This is just a teaser shot. It will be listed in the shop this Friday!
