Seeing as I do use this blog for things other than beads and jewelry, here’s one of those posts.

I started Methotrexate injections last week for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. It will be a once a week thing, every Wednesday. Last week the nurse at my Rheumatologist’s office gave me the injection, today, I did it myself in the office with the nurse’s guidance. Next week, I’ll be doing it all on my own here at home.

Why injections? Well, it seems that my gastrointestinal issues really don’t mesh with taking RA medication in pill form. I was taking Plaquenil for a while, and while it was working wonderfully it was also reminding my ulcer to get pissy, so I had to stop. We’re hoping that injections will be better since they will be bypassing my digestive tract.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed, shall we?

I guess this is jewelry news in a round about way. There’s always talk about tools used in jewelry making. My favorite tools are my hands. Without them, any other tools are useless. There have been days when my hands just won’t cooperate and making jewelry is more frustrating than enjoyable.

I refuse to force myself to make jewelry on days when I’m in pain. Making jewelry is my respite, it’s my creative outlet, it’s my meditation. Working while in pain tarnishes that process, and it shows in my work.

It’s all about the love. It’s also about quality over quantity. :)

With that in mind, my focus is sharpening. As much as I would love to crank out jewelry every day and add items to my shop every day, it’s just not feasible. I will be focusing on creating pieces I love and updating the shop once a month.
