Eddie’s Mom…

She was done crying for him. He was gone, and her life was moving on. The baby would be here any minute, it was time to focus. Breathing. Tears. He looked just like her dearly departed. His eyes.

The months passed and it was time to go. To start over with her new baby, in a new place. She grabbed a few things, treasured things that she needed with her. A crystal from the lamp that was a wedding gift. It reminded her of the light that can be dim in times like these. A key from her childhood charm bracelet, it had unlocked many things in the past, maybe it would in the future? The quote she carried with her, “To thine own self be true”. That’s what this was about, being true to her self.

Other things could stay, she wouldn’t need them where she was going. She packed Eddie into his carrier, and left. Closed the door.

No one knew she was gone. Her coach arrived late that night, quietly, and left on silent footfalls.

A Necklace of Beloved Things

Just something that seemed to fall into my mind after picking up a few things at a local antique store yesterday. The lamp crystal and the old photo with the name Eddie written on the back. Makes me wonder where he is now?
