Work in progress…

Inspiration hit today for a pendant from Red Crow Arts. I’ve had it for a while, but today it was like a bolt of lightning. Here’s the in progress tray. Not everything on the tray will be used in the piece, but it gives you a bit of insight to my creative process. I approach it a bit like I approach painting.

In progress I pick the colors I want to work with, then just start pulling out the sizes and textures I want. Then I pile them all on to my tray and find a comfy place to sit and start working. I very rarely plan out my design ahead of time. Most often, I let them tell me what to do, “them” being the beads. Seems to work for me, and keeps things interesting while I’m working.

I’ll finish this piece up tomorrow, now that I’ve got enough of it done to know where I’m going with it. The pendant really started it all. It’s a pretty, subtle blend of pale blues and greens with hints of brown and ivory/white.  I’m doing a rare multi strand piece. I don’t do many of those. This one will transition from two to one and back again a couple of times before the clasp. Hmm…now that I’m thinking about it…maybe I’ll add some dangles and charms, too. I have some really pretty sea shells in the same color scheme, little things…they’d look cute in the mix.

Ok, enough for now. The evening news is on and Saturday Night live is soon to follow!

Enjoy your Sunday, kids!

Blessings.
Peace.
Joy
